During my training at Type West 2023, my goal was to finish the year while challenging myself to break away from some of my standard type design practices. I aimed to create my very first script typeface, drawing inspiration from 1970s lettering. 

With this I introduce Undertone, a funky and rhythmic script typeface including a thin, light, and regular style, stylistic alternates, and additional language support. Its variations in weight predominantly appear in the bottom parts of each letterform—either ascending or descending—while maintaining consistent styling in upper areas. This intentional design choice creates an infectious energy across the letters making Undertone an excellent display face capable of infusing projects with character and style.
